How Can Healthcare Reduce Errors?

More people in the US die from medical errors while receiving healthcare than by airline crashes.  If the airline industry can become safer, the automobile industry and the space program can become safer, why not look for similar approaches to improve the performance record of healthcare professionals in the healthcare industry?  Other industries have improved due to the national impetus for improved safety standards.  Many of the same principles can apply to healthcare in the prevention of medical errors.  The public deserves no less.

Today, the need for quality of care, efficiency of processes, and constant improvement to meet not only customer satisfaction, but also improved profitability requires a strong emphasis on quality management systems.  By tightening the structure for routine processes, the financial bottom line will improve.
